Job Information | Independent Living Support Workers required to work within numerous settings that caters for young people that have left residential care. The position requires monitoring and supporting young people with elements of challenging behaviour within their own self-contained flats. You will offer support and guidance with everyday tasks and understand the importance of the role, be confident enough to work alongside Social Workers and other external agents and have both excellent written and communication skills. Ideally you will have experience of working with either families or children with complex or challenging needs Main duties and responsibilities: – Build strong professional relationships with service users and staff – Maintain a safe, clean and enjoyable environment – Support service users with individual needs – Keep up to date with all communication / information systems – Attend and take an active part in meetings as appropriate – To support individuals towards managing their own behaviour – Promote equality and Choice – Write accurate reports for reviews and keep written records – Attend work reliable and punctually – Keep updated with all procedures and policy changes – Undertake any additional duties as required Person Specification: – Form professional relationships with young people – Ability to set and keep clear boundaries – Ability to communicate clearly and easily with young people – Complete tasks reliably and to a high standard – Follow a work pattern – Awareness of what effective teamwork is – Awareness of general health, safety and welfare of young people Educational Requirements: – G.C.S.Es minimum (Good Standard) – Computer Literate – Excellent Communication Skills (Written & Verbal) Work Related Experience: – Previous experience working / interacting with young people – Experience with challenging behaviour or within challenging environments Shifts Patterns: 3pm -11pm + Sleep 3pm – 11pm 11pm – 8am (Waking Night) Please note that this position is a zero – hour contract and that you would be required to complete an enhanced DBS with Fulbridge Social Care and successfully complete one of our induction programmes prior to any placements being offered.
