Job Information | We require an experienced Child Practitioner for the role of Senior within a national organisation’s unit within the out-skirts of Colchester. You will be working with young people with challenging behaviour and complex needs; you must understand the complexities of challenging behaviour and have a proven record working with young people The position involves acting as an appropriate role model and support young people to achieve their potential, you will be responsible for the provision of care towards young people, including contact supervisions, meal preparation, coordinating activities and following each child’s specific care plan in conjunction with the governments five outcomes identified within Every Child Matters. Applicants will be qualified to a minimum of Level 3 Diploma in Working with Children and Young People (or equivalent) Main duties and responsibilities: Build strong professional relationships with the service users and other members of staff Maintain a safe, clean and enjoyable environment for the YPs to live and for you to work To keep up to date with all communication / information systems Attend and take an active part in meetings as appropriate Support YP in managing their own behaviour using approved skills To promote equality, acknowledging individuals differences Protect service users from any form of abuse from staff, visitors or service users Write accurate reports for reviews and keep written records for monitoring purposes Attend all training as required and be prepaid to achieve qualifications appropriate to role Attend work reliably and punctually and to follow a set shift pattern Transfer Young People using company car Ensure you keep yourself up to date with all procedures and policy changes Take responsible care for the health and safety of yourself and others Undertake any other additional duties as required, which are relevant to the post Take lead in situations when required Person Specification: Ability to form professional relationships with young people Ability to read and understand written work and to write clear and accurate reports Ability to communicate clearly and easily with young people in a variety of ways Ability to go wherever service users want to go and participate in all activities Ability to work as directed and complete tasks reliably and to a high standard Ability to participate in training and development Ability to follow a work pattern and to attend work punctually and reliably Awareness of what effective teamwork is Awareness of the general health, safety and welfare of young people Awareness of how young people develop and learn Shifts Patterns: – 8am – 11pm + sleep x12 a month Please note that the position requires successful candidates to obtain an enhanced DBS, cost met by employer and complete a detailed induction programme prior to start date |
